On October 16, 2024, DIOPTIC GmbH celebrated the topping-out ceremony of its state-of-the-art commercial building in the technology park in Weinheim. With the completion of the shell construction phase, the company marks an important milestone on the path to a forward-looking headquarters, which is designed to provide not only modern working conditions but also to meet the highest standards of sustainability and technological innovation.
DIOPTIC Combines Sustainability and Innovation in the New Building
DIOPTIC is particularly proud of its goal to achieve a silver sustainability certification. Attaining this certification requires far more than just conventional building insulation or the use of geothermal energy. “Sustainability is a holistic approach,” explains a company representative. “It means we had to work closely with a variety of craft businesses that are increasingly delivering technically demanding solutions.”
One key feature of the building is its intelligent building automation. Each window is equipped with sensors that collect data on light intensity, wind, and temperature to efficiently control the indoor climate.
Additionally, the ventilation and temperature regulation are automatically adjusted based on occupancy levels. “Thanks to this technology, not only is energy consumption reduced, but the comfort of our employees is also maximized,” says the technical director.

New Synergies and Further Growth
The new building also aims to achieve an important internal goal for DIOPTIC: the merging of two locations. “The new building brings our team even closer together. A shared workplace promotes exchange, creating new synergies,” emphasizes Jean-Michel Asfour, CEO of DIOPTIC.
At the same time, the new building provides the space for further growth. As a company in the field of photonics—one of the industries of the future—DIOPTIC expects continued growth in orders over the coming years.
The new building thus not only represents the success of the company but also its future viability. “This building embodies our values: sustainability, innovation, and team spirit,” Jean-Michel Asfour summarizes. The successful topping-out ceremony marks another step towards a sustainable, technology-driven future.
