ARGOS nexus

Weinheim, Germany – January, 2026 – DIOPTIC is excited to announce the launch of ARGOS nexus, a next-generation platform for automated scratch and dig inspection, to be introduced at SPIE Photonics West.

ARGOS nexus is designed to reduce inspection time, eliminate subjectivity, and extend automated inspection to a wider range of optical components and applications. ARGOS nexus is well suited for optical manufacturers producing precision optics, high-volume components, or high-value parts, as well as precision coating, R&D and process development environments.

Faster Inspection Across More Optical Geometries

The growing complexity of optical components and increasingly strong surface curvatures push conventional inspection methods to their limits. ARGOS nexus and ARGOS nexus pro are designed to meet these challenges, enabling fast, reliable, and consistent defect detection across flat, curved, and strongly curved surfaces.

ARGOS nexus is optimized for high-throughput inspection of flat and slightly curved optics, delivering automated pass/fail decisions with full traceability.

ARGOS nexus pro extends these benefits to highly curved and complex optics through a tilt-enabled measurement head that maintains perpendicular inspection geometry, significantly reducing inspection time and enabling automated bright field and MIL inspections on curved optics.

One System for Multiple Inspection Modalities

ARGOS nexus combines dark field and bright field imaging within a single measurement head, eliminating the need for multiple setups or systems. This integrated approach enables a more complete understanding of surface defects while keeping inspection workflows simple and efficient.

Automated Inspection with Built-In Objectivity and Traceability

By replacing manual visual inspection with automated, size-based and visibility-based defect analysis, ARGOS nexus delivers objective and reproducible inspection results independent of operator experience. Automatically generated PDF reports provide clear pass/fail decisions, defect statistics, and full traceability, supporting quality assurance, process control, and customer communication.

These advantages make ARGOS nexus applicable to a broader range of optical manufacturing environments, from high-volume production to precision optics, R&D, and advanced components.

Support for Industry and Customer Standards

ARGOS nexus supports inspection according to ISO 10110-7, MIL-PRF-13830B, and custom customer specifications within a single workflow, allowing manufacturers to meet diverse quality requirements without changing systems or processes.

ARGOS nexus will be showcased at SPIE Photonics West at Booth #231 in Hall A from January 20 to 22, 2026. For more information or to schedule a meeting, email rochester@dioptic.de.
