At DIOPTIC, sustainability means much more than using resources responsibly. It is an integral part of our corporate strategy and shapes how we develop innovations, collaborate with our employees, and build long term customer relationships.
Sustainability as Part of Our Corporate Strategy
With our first sustainability report, developed in cooperation with Volksbank Kurpfalz eG, we are making this commitment transparent. The report outlines the measures we have already implemented, the goals we are pursuing, and how we plan to further strengthen our responsibility toward the environment, society, and the economy in the future.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals
Our sustainability report is based on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals provide a global framework for sustainable development and help guide companies in acting responsibly.
As part of a materiality assessment, DIOPTIC identified the goals that are particularly relevant to our company and business activities. Based on these priorities, we have defined specific measures and long term development goals across the three ESG areas: Environmental, Social, and Governance.
Our Goals: Environmental Aspects (E)
From an environmental perspective, we are committed to continuously reducing our ecological footprint. An important milestone is our new company building in Weinheim, which was constructed according to the KfW 40 standard and meets the requirements of the German Sustainable Building Quality Seal (QNG).
Sustainability is reflected in many aspects of the building. A powerful photovoltaic system, an innovative ventilation system with heat recovery, and a low temperature heating system ensure energy efficient operation and help reduce CO₂ emissions. In addition, DIOPTIC uses resource efficient timber frame construction, a green roof, and minimizes sealed outdoor surfaces wherever possible to promote biodiversity and improve the local microclimate.
Our commitment to sustainability also extends beyond our company building. We promote climate friendly mobility through JobRad bicycle leasing and public transportation programs, participate in regional sustainability initiatives, and continuously develop our climate strategy. One of our key goals is to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50 percent by 2030 compared with the 2024 baseline.

Our Goals: Social Aspects (S)
For DIOPTIC, sustainability also means taking responsibility for our employees. That is why we continuously invest in health, workplace safety, and professional development. For example, we launched a Mental Health First Aid program that trains employees to provide initial support to colleagues experiencing mental health challenges. Additional training encourages an open and supportive approach to mental health in the workplace.
We create healthy working conditions through ergonomic workplaces, including height adjustable desks in the office and orthopedic office chairs for employees working from home. In addition, we provide our employees with supplemental private health insurance and an annual health budget of € 500 for medical services and health-related courses. These efforts are complemented by flexible working models, a wide range of professional development opportunities, and a corporate culture based on equal opportunity, appreciation, and mutual respect.
Our Goals: Governance and Economic Aspects (G)
Sustainable business practices means combining innovation, quality, and responsible corporate governance. We develop customized solutions across the entire value chain, from optical engineering and design to prototyping and series production. Continuous product improvements and internal development projects are an integral part of our culture of innovation.
Reliable processes form the foundation of our operations. Our risk management is integrated into our ISO 9001 certified quality management system and supports sustainable, future focused business development. At the same time, we focus on resource efficient production processes, recyclable materials, and effective waste management. Today, 80.4 percent of our waste is already recycled.
We also see sustainability as a shared responsibility. That is why we actively participate in educational, research, and industry networks and support initiatives such as the “Physik im Advent” educational project organized by the German Physical Society (DPG). The project aims to inspire young people to engage with science and to encourage the next generation of scientists.

Sustainability as a Continuous Process
Our sustainability report marks the starting point for the systematic development of our sustainability strategy. Many measures have already been implemented, while additional projects are currently being planned. Our goal is to transparently document our progress and firmly embed sustainability across all areas of our company.
With this report, we want to demonstrate that economic success, technological innovation, and sustainable business practices are inseparably connected at DIOPTIC.
