Quality Control of Optical Covers
Industrially manufactured environmental sensors such as lidar sensors or surveillance cameras often have to cover large fields of view or 360-degree images. In order to guarantee the high resolution and reliability requirements of the sensors or cameras, the optical protective covers must also meet the highest quality standards. This is exactly what WAVOS cap provides.
The 360-Degree Measuring Principle
The 360-degree inspection of the WAVOS cap is based on the combination of the WAVOS measuring head and a precision rotary table. The light is coupled in via a periscope. In this way, the influence of the test specimens on the angle of the transmitted light is measured with spatial resolution and then evaluated.
Tool Optimization and Pass/Fail Evaluation
WAVOS cap enables the reliable measurement of beam deflections in the range of a few µrad with minimal measurement time. By comparing the nominal and measured beam deflection evaluation, WAVOS enables optimization of injection molding processes and conducts pass/fail evaluations.

The WAVOS family
WAVOS is the ideal inspection system for checking the quality of plastic or glass protective screens. Automated testing is already used for 100% inspection. WAVOS cap is used to measure cylindrical components and hemispheres. WAVOS cover was developed for the inspection of flat and moderately curved samples. Both WAVOS test systems enable a pass/fail assessment in accordance with ISO 11010-14 or customer-specific requirements.
